Dimapur, August 1: In a major crackdown on organised drug trafficking, Dimapur Police have busted an interstate cocaine trafficking network and arrested five accused, including an alleged major cocaine supplier based in Dimapur.
According to a press note issued by the Commissioner of Police, the investigation revealed that the syndicate allegedly procured and distributed cocaine through commercial courier and parcel delivery services, including DTDC Courier Services, using a well-organised network of suppliers, handlers and delivery agents.
The case has been registered at West Police Station, Dimapur, under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. During the investigation, police seized approximately 33 grams of suspected cocaine, which has been sent for forensic examination.
The five arrested have been identified as:
• Tohuka Sema alias Toka (35) of Dimapur, alleged to be a major cocaine supplier.
• Yeka Awomi (30), arrested from Pune, Maharashtra.
• Biresh Kumar (22), arrested from Delhi.
• Akhtar Hussain (35), arrested from Delhi.
• Swantheiba Inkah (25), a delivery agent allegedly involved in transporting and delivering the drugs.
Police also said that two more accused, who are currently outside Nagaland, are absconding, and efforts are underway to arrest them.
Preliminary investigation suggests that the syndicate operated in an organised manner with specific roles for procurement, payment, interstate transportation, courier-based delivery and distribution of cocaine. The investigation has also uncovered interstate and international links, including the alleged involvement of a Nigerian national.
Further investigation is underway to identify additional associates, trace financial transactions, identify customers and uncover the full extent of the drug trafficking network.
Dimapur Police reaffirmed their commitment to dismantling organised drug trafficking networks and appealed to the public to share any credible information related to narcotics. Police assured that all information received will be kept strictly confidential.
