Kohima, August 1: The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA), Home Department, has issued a district-wise weather outlook for August 2 to 5, forecasting intermittent rainfall, thunderstorms and lightning across several parts of the state.
According to the advisory, August 2 is expected to bring light rain to most districts, while Longleng may receive moderate to heavy intermittent rainfall. On August 3, weather activity is likely to intensify, with thunderstorms and lightning accompanied by light to moderate rain expected over Kohima, Tseminyu, Tuensang, Wokha and Longleng.
The forecast indicates that August 4 will see localized thunderstorms and lightning over Kohima, Longleng, Meluri, Mokokchung, Peren, Shamator and Wokha, while light to moderate rainfall is expected in several other districts. On August 5, scattered light to moderate rainfall is likely across most parts of Nagaland, with Tseminyu expected to receive moderate to heavy rainfall at a few locations.
In view of the forecast, NSDMA has advised the public to remain vigilant against possible flooding, waterlogging, landslides, mudslides and falling rocks in vulnerable areas, particularly during periods of intense rainfall and thunderstorms. Motorists have been urged to exercise caution while travelling and stay updated through official weather advisories, the NSDMA Weather website, and the SAFER Nagaland App.
