
Kohima, July 9: The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) on Thursday organised a candlelight vigil at Phoolbari Junction, Kohima, with hundreds of participants, including tribal hohos, civil society groups, student bodies, government officials and members of the public, to honour six Nagas allegedly abducted and killed in Manipur.
NSF President Mteisuding called the vigil a symbol of Naga unity and resilience, urging Nagas to remain united while reaffirming their commitment to peace. Nagaland Tribal Hohos Coordination Committee Convener Thejao Vihienuo appealed for peaceful coexistence and urged the Manipur and Central governments to address the demands of the United Naga Council.
The NSF also read out a memorandum addressed to the President of India through the Governor of Nagaland, seeking justice for the six victims, accountability for those responsible, and stronger measures to ensure the safety and security of Naga communities. The programme concluded with a candlelight tribute and a renewed call for justice and lasting peace.
