DIMAPUR, July 9: The Naga Youth Movement (formerly “Fed Up Naga’s”) on Thursday announced that it will continue its campaign demanding the implementation of the two signed Naga political agreements, asserting that the movement is neutral and not aligned against any Naga political group or faction.
Addressing a press conference, the members clarified that their sole objective is to seek the implementation of the agreements signed nearly a decade ago, questioning why the issue has remained unresolved despite the passage of 9–10 years. They urged all Naga political groups to unite, work towards an early solution, and ensure peace, progress, and mutual understanding.
The movement announced that it will now function under the name Naga Youth Movement, stating that it aims to represent the voices of Naga youth. The members maintained that they are not attempting to alter history but are only demanding the implementation of the signed agreements if they are in the best interest of the Nagas. They further stated that opposition to the movement amounts to opposition to the implementation of the two agreements.
The group thanked the Government of Nagaland for accepting their memorandum and reiterated its neutral stand while extending support to the two signed agreements. It appealed to the public and civil society organisations (CSOs) to understand the movement without bias and announced a three-month timeframe for the implementation of the agreements. The members also clarified that the movement does not endorse any form of donation or collection of money in its name and warned that any such activity should be treated as unauthorized.
The speakers further encouraged educated Naga youth to come forward and participate in the movement, stressing the need for courageous and quality leadership to secure a peaceful future free from fear. They also acknowledged the challenges faced before and after the recent rally but expressed gratitude that they were able to successfully submit their memorandum.
