Kohima, July 10: Recurring monsoon flooding in Kohima has once again exposed clogged drains, waterlogged roads, and damaged infrastructure. During a ground visit, NNN found many roadside drains blocked by plastic, bottles, and other waste, restricting the flow of rainwater and worsening flooding.
NNN urged residents to dispose of waste responsibly and use KMC’s garbage collection services, stressing that keeping the city clean is a shared responsibility between the authorities and the public. The report also appealed to motorists to slow down on flooded roads and avoid splashing dirty water on pedestrians, calling for greater civic responsibility and considerate driving during the monsoon.
