CLAIMS OF SHOTS FIRED AT DMP POLICE IN KUHUBOTO AREA; ASSAM POL TAKE OVER CASE

Dimapur Police rescued an alleged abduction victim and apprehended a 32-year-old man identified as Kivito Aye, who reportedly claimed to be a self-styled Second Lieutenant of the NSCN-K Niki group, following a late-night operation on October 7.

According to police sources, the operation was launched after Dimapur Police received information from Assam Police at around 9:30 p.m. regarding the alleged abduction of a man at gunpoint from his residence at Lama Bosti, Khadkati, Karbi Anglong, Assam. Sources said a ransom of ₹7.5 lakh was allegedly demanded, and police personnel reportedly came under fire during the operation in the Newland area.The victim, reportedly in his late thirties, was rescued from the area with injuries and is receiving medical care.

Sources said the apprehended person and the victim were subsequently handed over to Assam Police. Further investigation is underway to establish the involvement of other suspects and the circumstances surrounding the incident.
