Dimapur, September 17: Former Nagaland Chief Minister and Governor S.C. Jamir on Saturday, September 12 explained his recent meeting with the RSS chief, saying he met the leadership amid what he described as “confusion” among the Naga people and to discuss issues concerning Nagaland.
Addressing a press conference in Dimapur, Jamir said he attended the meeting as a Naga and not on behalf of any political party. He said he remains a Congress man but, as a free and independent person, he is free to meet anyone in the interest of the Naga public.On the Naga political issue, Jamir expressed concern over the existence of multiple groups and alleged continuing extortion, saying the situation had affected governance in the state.
He said the Naga people are “fed up” and want a political settlement to live in peace.Jamir said he conveyed these concerns during his interaction with the RSS leadership and appealed to it to “wake up” the Government of Nagaland to the aspirations of the Naga people. He also opposed the proposed FCRA Amendment Bill, 2026.
He urged the state government to listen to the voices of the “Fed Up Nagas.”
