Mon, August 8, 2026: The Mon District Petrol Pump Dealers Union has called off its proposed shutter-down strike, which was scheduled to begin today, August 8.The decision follows intervention by the Konyak Union (KU), which assured the dealers that it would take responsibility for resolving the matter involving NSCN-K (Angmai).
The KU has summoned Hapwang Konyak to appear before its headquarters in Mon within one week to clarify the matter.The dealers had earlier announced the shutdown over alleged summoning, illegal taxation and extortion by NSCN-K (Angmai).
Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner, Mon, has directed the Superintendent of Police to identify and arrest the person involved in summoning the petrol pump dealers within 48 hours.The dealers’ union has given the Konyak Union one week to resolve the matter, failing which it warned that the shutdown may be resumed.
