Dimapur, August 8: The offices of the Assistant Labour Commissioner, Dimapur, and the District Employment Officer, Dimapur, at Purana Bazar were found locked and deserted during official working hours on August 7, 2026.
The offices were found shut when the team visited between 2:45 and 3 p.m., despite the stated government working hours extending until 4 p.m. A citizen who had arrived around 3 p.m. for Aadhaar-related work said the closure caused inconvenience and would delay his work.
People in the area also claimed that the offices routinely close around 2 p.m. on working days, though this could not be independently verified.Meanwhile, staff of the Central Government’s Ministry of Labour and Employment office in the same building were reportedly present.
The early closure raises questions over public service delivery and adherence to official working hours. A clarification from the concerned department is awaited.
