


Dimapur, Aug. 5: In a major crackdown on the alleged illegal sale of codeine-based cough syrup, Dimapur Police arrested two persons following a raid at Urban Drug Store on August 3 and seized 293 bottles of codeine-based cough syrup.
The accused have been identified as Bittu Dep (39), a resident of Sematilla, and Kaushak Talukdar (26), also a resident of Sematilla. Both were taken into custody in connection with the case.
When Nagaland News Network visited the site on Wednesday, the Urban Drug Store was found locked and sealed by the police. It was also observed that the establishment was operating without any visible signboard identifying the pharmacy, raising questions about how the store had been functioning.
Police are continuing their investigation to ascertain the source of the seized codeine cough syrup and whether more individuals were involved in the alleged illegal trade.The case remains under investigation, and further details are awaited. This is a developing story.
