Kohima, August 4: The Political Affairs Committee (PAC) of the Nagaland Government has reiterated its demand for the Centre to appoint a ministerial-level interlocutor to take the Naga political talks forward.
Speaking to the media after the PAC meeting at the Chief Minister’s residence on Monday, Minister K. G. Kenye said the committee reviewed developments over the past two years and decided to uphold its earlier resolutions. He added that the PAC is preparing a roadmap to engage stakeholders and will present it in due course.
Kenye said the Centre has assured the state that the proposal for a ministerial-level interlocutor is under consideration, stressing that such an appointment would help strengthen dialogue and confidence among all parties.
He also appealed to the public and organisations to avoid blame games and allow the government time to consult stakeholders on the Naga political issue. On the Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation’s recent demand regarding the Frontier Nagaland Territorial Authority (FNTA), Kenye said the matter was not discussed during the meeting but urged patience, expressing hope for an amicable solution.
He added that the government is closely monitoring recent developments involving the Eastern Front of the NSCN but will comment only after the facts are verified.
