Chizami, July 30: Minister for Power and Parliamentary Affairs K.G. Kenye on Thursday urged Naga People’s Front (NPF) workers to remain committed to the party’s vision and work in unity for the welfare of the people during the oath-taking ceremony of newly elected village and town unit office bearers of the NPF 17th Chizami Area Unit in Phek district.
Addressing the gathering at Chizami Town Hall, Kenye stressed the importance of upholding the party constitution and congratulated the newly sworn-in office bearers on their responsibility to serve the party.
Speaking on key political issues, Kenye said the Frontier Nagaland Territorial Authority (FNTA) proposal has reached an advanced stage following the February 5, 2026 tripartite agreement, though legislative powers remain under discussion between the Centre and the Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation (ENPO). He urged the public to stay informed about developments.
Referring to the ongoing Manipur crisis, Kenye called for vigilance along the Nagaland-Manipur border, saying Nagaland should not allow the conflict to spill into the state and stressing that maintaining peace is a shared responsibility of both the government and the people.
On the Naga political issue, he appealed for unity among Naga political groups, stating that divisions have delayed a lasting solution. He reiterated the NPF’s commitment to the Naga political cause and urged party workers to continue strengthening the organisation.
During the programme, Chubutse Naro administered the oath to the newly elected office bearers, while several party leaders called on members to uphold integrity, promote inclusive development and work collectively for the welfare of the people.
The House also adopted resolutions congratulating the new office bearers and reaffirming its support for K.G. Kenye and Chief Minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio, pledging to work unitedly to strengthen the NPF under their leadership.
