KOHIMA VILLAGE COUNCIL CLARIFIES ON STATEMENT MADE BY REV. A. MOA

Kohima, July 17: The Kohima Village Council (KVC) has clarified that allegations made by Rev. A. Puni Mao on June 25, 2026, accusing Kohima Village of supplying 30 AK-47 rifles to Kuki militants, were false and baseless.

In a clarification statement issued on July 16, the KVC said the allegation was made without any evidence and was intended to malign the image of Kohima Village. The Council stated that following the allegation, Rev. Mao was invited to a meeting on July 9 at the Kohima Village Council Hall, attended by village elders and frontal organisations, to substantiate his claims.

According to the KVC, Rev. Mao admitted that he had made the allegation without proper verification or proof, sought pardon, and publicly apologised to Kohima Village. The Council said the matter has since been resolved amicably between both parties.
