FROM CLAIMS OF MISTAKEN IDENTITY TO DRUG PEDDLING, CASE RAISES MULTIPLE QUESTION

dimapur, November 3: The alleged abduction case of approximately 25-year-old Altaf Hussain from Newmarket has taken a fresh turn following claims that he was released on the same day he was allegedly kidnapped.

CCTV footage had reportedly shown three unidentified persons allegedly taking Altaf from Hotel Zakaria, also known as Rice Hotel, in Newmarket at around 7 a.m. on October 28 and leaving in a red Maruti 800. However, Altaf later reportedly told another news outlet that the incident was a case of mistaken identity and claimed that he was taken to Wokha before being released with ₹1,000 to help him reach his destination.

Speaking to Nagaland News Network, Newmarket Business Owners Association (NMBOA) president Kevin Yebthome said there is now information suggesting Altaf has been released, but maintained that the police should bring him back for further investigation. He said only a proper investigation and questioning of Altaf would help establish the facts and bring clarity to the case.

Meanwhile, fresh allegations regarding Altaf’s possible involvement in illegal activities have also surfaced, though these claims remain unverified. The NMBOA has urged the police to conduct a thorough investigation so that the facts surrounding the alleged abduction and subsequent developments can be clearly established.
