WHO DECIDES IF SHOPS CAN OPEN? DIMAPUR OFFICIALS RESPOND TO FRGN DIRECTIVE

Dimapur, October 27: The Deputy Commissioner said the district administration would follow directives issued by the state government, adding that no directive had been received from the state government regarding the order issued by the Federal Government of Nagaland (FRGN). He said the Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) councillor had visited him to submit a representation, which he would look forward to receiving. He added that the police administration, along with the Commissioner of Police, was working to strengthen security and prevent any law-and-order situation.

Meanwhile, the East Dimapur Town Council (EDTC) stated that its elected representatives would look into matters falling within their jurisdiction and would not accept orders imposed by any unauthorised body. It maintained that businesses holding valid trade licences could operate within its jurisdiction, including on Sundays after church hours, and termed the FRGN order null and void.

The DMC chairman also expressed opposition to the FRGN order issued on October 23, directing non-local business owners and dealers to shut down their establishments in phases within 30 days.
