NYM CALLS OFF OCT 28 PROTEST AT LOK BHAVAN IN KOHIMA; CUTE REASONS

October 27: The Naga Youth Movement (NYM) has announced an adjustment to its planned democratic protest on October 28 at Lok Bhavan, Kohima, citing evolving circumstances and the need to avoid ethnic confrontation.

In a statement, NYM said its objective remains to pressure the Government of India for the early implementation of the Framework Agreement signed on August 3, 2015, and the Agreed Position of November 17, 2017.

The movement described its approach as a shift towards people-based and youth-centric democratic participation, stressing that its stand is pro-peace, progress and development.NYM also apologised to supporters, students and youths who had made preparations to participate, while thanking well-wishers for their continued support.

It maintained that its momentum for a political solution remains intact, adding that its strategy would be more inclusive and strategic amid the prevailing dynamics. The movement further questioned the delay in implementing the agreements and called for accountability, transparency and a peaceful resolution, stating that the future of Naga youths and generations to come must remain a collective concern.
