Kohima, September 17: Nagaland Police Finds No Record of Vehicle Linked to Odisha Arms CaseNagaland Police says it has found no registration record in its databases for the vehicle allegedly linked to an arms-smuggling case in Odisha.
Speaking to the media on September 15, DGP Rupin Sharma said Nagaland Police contacted Odisha Police after reports surfaced on social media, but was informed that no such recent case had been reported.
However, the DGP said Nagaland Police has received inputs that weapons or arms licences issued in Nagaland have, in some cases, allegedly found their way to Odisha.He said the registration number displayed on the Toyota Innova could not be traced in the Parivahan database, raising the possibility that it may be a fake number plate.
Police are now verifying the vehicle’s engine and chassis numbers to determine whether it was ever sold, delivered or registered in Nagaland.The DGP clarified that Odisha Police has not officially contacted Nagaland Police so far. He said Nagaland Police would extend full cooperation if Odisha Police seeks assistance, while any seizure or evidence found within Nagaland would lead to an independent case.
