Kohima, August 5: The All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) felicitated 47 degree toppers from across Nagaland during the Degree Toppers’ Felicitation Programme 2026 held at SIRD Hall, Kohima, on Wednesday. The event honoured 20 Nagaland University toppers, 20 autonomous college toppers and seven polytechnic toppers for their outstanding academic achievements.
Speaking as the special guest, Minister for Tourism and Higher Education, Temjen Imna Along, described achievement as “an enterprise” built on hard work, discipline and perseverance. He urged students to become lifelong learners, develop critical thinking skills and prepare for a future shaped by technology, artificial intelligence and the National Education Policy.
Highlighting the state’s employment challenges, Along said Nagaland’s biggest concern is unemployability rather than the lack of education. He encouraged students to focus on skill development and explore opportunities in entrepreneurship, agriculture, hospitality, healthcare and other emerging sectors. He also assured that the state government is committed to improving scholarship transparency and strengthening higher education through policy reforms.
ANCSU President Kivika Yeptho delivered the presidential address, while Education Secretary H. Tunato Achumi led the felicitation ceremony. Eunice Aier of Dimapur Government College spoke on behalf of the awardees, and the programme concluded with a vote of thanks by ANCSU General Secretary Sotilo Tep.
