SURPRISED BY REMARKS MADE BY FAMILY MEMBER, SAYS CCYO PREZ IN FOREST DEPT WILDLIFE CASE

Nov. 6: The Porbami Youth Organisation (PYO) has written to the President of the Centre Chakhesang Youth Organisation (CCYO), urging it to await its final and consolidated report before drawing any further conclusion on the controversy surrounding Vezhoto Hesuh and the Forest Department.

The case had earlier triggered widespread controversy after videos involving protected wildlife, including a bird and an owl, went viral on social media. The matter subsequently led to action by the Forest Department and allegations and counter-allegations, including a claim that an official had allegedly sought a bribe of ₹1 lakh.

The issue was later taken up by the CCYO, which submitted representations to the government. The government had earlier informed NNN that the demands raised in connection with the matter had been addressed, including the release of the bird, while the case involving Vezhoto Hesuh was also expected to be withdrawn. Authorities had further assured that a fair investigation would be carried out.

The latest development comes after Vezhoto Hesuh’s foster father reportedly made statements to sections of the media, claiming that the matter had been heavily “politicised.”In its letter, the PYO expressed regret over the confusion and mistrust created by a press conference held by Mr. Shekho Thuluo on November 3.

The organisation stated that the Dzudotsomi Clan of Porbami village had clarified that Thuluo was neither authorised nor mandated to speak on behalf of Vezhoto Hesuh’s family/clan or the village. The PYO said it is holding consultations with concerned authorities and stakeholders and will submit a concrete and consolidated report after verification.

It has requested the CCYO not to take any further action or draw a final conclusion until the organisation’s report is formally submitted.
