Over 50 Institutions, 2,000 Students Expected at NextStepKohima Career Fair

Kohima, October 13: The Kohima Village Students’ Union (KVSU) will organise the second edition of NextStepKohima 2026 – Educational and Career Fair on October 15 at Kohima Village Ground, Ziekezou, near Don Bosco College, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The one-day fair aims to help students make informed decisions about higher education, career pathways and skill development by providing direct access to educational institutions, skill centres, coaching institutes and scholarship opportunities under one roof.

Addressing a press conference, KVSU President Khriesaneituo Kire said the initiative was intended to provide students with a platform to gain the information needed to make appropriate educational and career choices. He encouraged students, including those who had dropped out of formal education, as well as parents and guardians, to avail themselves of the opportunity.

Convenor Albert Rutsa said the fair was planned based on a pre-event survey that highlighted students’ preference for pursuing studies within Nagaland and the Northeast, along with growing interest in skill development and emerging sectors. He said the survey also identified a lack of information as one of the major challenges faced by students while choosing their career paths. The fair would enable them to interact directly with institutional representatives, clarify their doubts and learn about available courses, facilities, faculty and admission opportunities.

Rutsa said the organisers were expecting participation from more than 50 institutions and over 2,000 students. Educational institutions from the Northeast and other parts of the country, including Assam Don Bosco University, Martin Luther Christian University, the University of Science and Technology Meghalaya and Christ University, Bengaluru, are among those invited. Several colleges and skill development institutions from Nagaland are also expected to participate.

The fair will also feature information on scholarships and government-supported educational and skill development programmes. Representatives from institutions and agencies, including AIDAN, NACDM, IDA and Government Polytechnic, are expected to brief students on scholarship schemes, vocational training and other opportunities.

KVSU said the event was being organised in October to give students sufficient time to explore available options and prepare for admissions and career choices before the next academic session.Co-convenor Keneiser Mere said participation in the fair would be free of charge and open to all students, parents and educators. Visitors can walk in anytime between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on October 15.

The organisers expressed hope that NextStepKohima 2026 would bridge the information gap among students and encourage them to make informed decisions based on reliable guidance rather than guesswork or word-of-mouth advice.
