KOHIMA, SEPTEMBER 4: Nagaland MLA Kekhrie Yhome on Thursday, September 3, called for stronger financial management, institutional compliance and greater investment in infrastructure to ensure that the Frontier Nagaland Territorial Authority (FNTA) translates into tangible development for Eastern Nagaland.
Speaking during the discussion on the FNTA Bill, 2026, in the Nagaland Legislative Assembly, Yhome described the occasion as “momentous” and said the new arrangement provided an opportunity to address historical developmental disparities. He, however, cautioned that political restructuring alone would not guarantee development without adequate resources and efficient financial management.
Yhome highlighted the need to ensure compliance to access central funds, citing unutilised and returned allocations under various schemes. He also called for increased capital investment in healthcare, education, roads and banking infrastructure, along with stronger digital monitoring systems to improve accountability and prevent the loss or inefficient use of public resources.
He stressed that the success of the FNTA would ultimately depend on effective management of financial, human and natural resources and the government’s ability to deliver essential infrastructure and services on the ground.
