ONE DETAINED IN CHUMOU BOMB BLAST CASE, LATER RELEASED WITH NO CREDIBLE EVIDENCE AGAINST INDIVIDUAL

Chumukedima, July 17: Authorities have urged the public to refrain from spreading unverified information regarding the suspected IED blast in Chumoukedima on July 13, following reports and speculation circulating on social media .

The blast which took place in Chumoukedima, claimed the life of one Assam Rifles personnel and left four other injured. The injured personnel were immediately shifted to hospital, where they are reported to be recovering well.

The deceased soldier was accorded a brief funeral service before his mortal remains were sent to his hometown. Sources have informed that he has since been laid to rest.

Meanwhile, reliable sources informed Nagaland News Network that on July 14, a local resident was detained by Assam Rifles for questioning in connection with the incident. The individual was later handed over to the police for further investigation. However, after inquiry, the police found no evidence linking the person to the blast, and the individual was subsequently released.

Investigations into the suspected IED blast are currently being carried out jointly by the National Security Guard (NSG), the National Investigation Agency (NIA), and the Nagaland Police, as authorities continue efforts to identify those responsible.

Authorities have also appealed to the public not to circulate rumours or unverified information related to the incident, stating that such misinformation could hamper the ongoing investigation and create unnecessary panic. Citizens have been advised to rely only on official information released by the competent authorities.
