DIMAPUR POLICE ARRIVE TO TAKE STOCK OF SITUATION; NO INJURIES REPORTED

Dimapur, July 4: A firing incident was reported at Niu Colony, Burma Camp, at around 4:30 pm on July 3, drawing police and Special Task Force (STF) personnel to the area.

According to sources, the incident took place at the residence of a senior NSCN-U (Alezo) official. Sources alleged that personnel from NSCN-IM (UT-1) attempted to forcibly take away the official’s son, reportedly over allegations of drug use. During the confrontation, the father allegedly opened fire to prevent his son from being taken away. No official confirmation has been issued regarding these claims.

Sources further alleged that the NSCN-IM (UT-1) personnel took away the son’s wallet and approximately ₹20,000 in cash before leaving the premises. The incident was later resolved amicably, according to sources.

No injuries have been officially reported, and neither the police nor the organisations concerned have issued a statement as of the time of filing this report. The investigation is underway, and further details are awaited.
