BJP DMC COUNCILLOR KHEKATO AWOMI CONTINUES PUBLIC STREAK; INITIATES MAJOR DRAINAGE CLEAN UP AT WARD 6

Dimapur, July 2: Ward 6 Councillor V. Khekato Awomi of the Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC), who also serves as the BJYM President, has led a major community-driven drainage clean up along Golaghat Road between eros Line and the Blue Hill Station area.

Speaking during the clean up, Awomi said the operation had been carried out for four consecutive days by private labourers and local volunteers, with the DMC Sardar also joining the effort. He noted that the team faced significant challenges due to the large accumulation of garbage, adding that the initiative was undertaken by the public with financial support from residents and well-wishers.

Awomi said a permanent solution would require substantial funding and expressed hope for greater support in the future. He also warned that anyone found illegally dumping waste would be penalised under the Municipal Act.

Since being elected to the DMC during the Urban Local Bodies elections, Awomi has undertaken several public welfare initiatives in Ward 6, including the distribution of free water, oxygen concentrators, and sanitary napkins, along with regular road and drainage cleaning drives.
