INR 1.5 Lakh Dimapur restaurant union assistance for NSF surfaces amid controversy

DIMAPUR, JULY 3: A viral video circulating on social media on 30th of june allegedly shows Katho P Awomi, Finance Secretary of the Naga Student’s Federation, vandalizing property at prysm lounge on Golaghat road, Dimapur.

The circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear, with questions being raised over whether the alleged act was carried out an official capacity or as a personal action. Sources also claims that Tito Yepthomi, proprietor of Prysm lounge & President of the Dimapur Restaurant Union, was allegedly abused and has reportedly filed a police complaint.

Meanwhile, an unverified letter circulating on social media claims that around 30 restaurants in Dimapur were asked to contribute Rs. 5000 each as financial assistance to the NSF. Although speculation has linked the alleged donation request to the incident, on 1st of July Tito Yepthomi stated that the CCTV footage & the circulating letter had been misinterpreted. He clarified that the NSF did not demand or solicit any financial assistance from the Dimapur Restaurant Union or its members. According to the statement, during the meeting held on 28th of June between the Dimapur Restaurants Union & Club owners, members had unanimously decided to voluntarily extend financial support to the NSF as a gesture of goodwill.

Sources also indicate that a meeting involving restaurant owners was held at Dimapur Naga Students’ Union office on Wednesday(1st July). However, the purpose of the meeting and its connection, if any, to the Prysm incident has not been confirmed. No official statement has yet been issued by the police or the NSF regarding the alleged vandalism incident. Investigation into the matter are awaited.
