NAGALAND FLATFENDERS CLUB: A NEW COMMUNITY FOR HERITAGE VEHICLE PRESERVATION

DIMAPUR: Nagaland Flatfenders Club invites everyone to join their club in sharing dreams and passion in preserving and conserving the vintage vehicle and heritage of Nagaland.

The modest inauguration and function of the Nagaland Flatfenders club was held on 8th November, 2024. After gathering from the Sovima, outside cricket stadium and went ahead till the Patkai bridge area and came back for the event in CT Square Chumoukedima, Dr. Andrew Ahoto Secretary General, NFC was seen giving a welcome speech giving thanks to the Lord Almighty, extending his warm welcome to the special guest CP of DMP, Kevithuto sophie and the president of NFC John Longkumer, other members, Flatfenders brothers and the motor bike rally team the club, the media fertility and all the well wishers that was present. He further explained about what exactly was Flatfenders; he said that it is all about the rally jeep, the four jeep or MP but said that the jeep is flat on top and so it is called flatfenders.

He further explained that it originated from the US and that it is an international club and there are very few clubs are there in the world and said that it is their great privilege to launch one in Nagaland; he added that they are a group of light minded people and said that it is just not limited to them but he welcome everyone who wants to join the club and share the dreams, passion and everything, they thought that the Flatfenders was a need of the hour as everybody is very busy in our own world and so, he encouraged everyone to have a passionate hobby to keep us alive and added that its a hobby that keeps us kicking and to see something what we desire: So, this club was to generate and to have and see that we do not forego all our vintage heritage and upkeep all our traditional culture besides the vehicle antics, anything that is desire for village such as the ancestral heirloom and all those things to be encouraged and also expressed his interest in having a museum to safeguard whichever is vintage and antic so that people will come and see the legacy that the Naga’s have. He said that it started in 2011 and their motto is “Preserve and conserve”.

President NFC, John Longkumer was also seen giving a speech. In his speech he talked about how the vintage vehicle enthusiastic, they came to existence by slowly getting to know each other and to help each other and support each other they formed the Club and said that it was originally formed in 2020 and then registered with the government this year around the month of April. He also talked about the significance of Hornbill World War-2 peace rally, he said that now he wants to be an elder guide and a mentor for all the vehicle enthusiastic and help them in whichever ways he can. And clarified that even the government servant can be a part of such clubs and invite everyone to join the Club and also thanked the Government for initiating a world war peace rally.

The special guest, CP DMP Kevithuto Sophie also gave a short speech, he started off by extending his greetings and said that he stood up to say that he was privileged to be a part of the program and said that forming the club of the Flatfenders was not just holding the vehicles but their motive and theme to preserve and conserve and flourish customs and heritages is very much encouraging and wished the club members in contributing to the society to preserving the heritage as well as bring about unity in the society. His speech also included the topic of addiction and said that the new addiction that we see today is tribalism addiction and modern technology addiction and encouraged everyone to work hard and try to do away with the tribalism, work for the integrity and unity of our society and added that these type of clubs can contribute a lot in making a better and brighter Nagaland.
