DIMAPUR: Contractor appeal the public to not walk across the construction site as it hinders the work of construction and also pose threats to the life of the public.
The road over bridge which is in Golaghat junction, khermahal road stretch and near the Burma camp junction, has been closed since October 1, 2024 till this date is under construction, where the government has given a three months timeframe to complete the work of construction.
Now, the innovative construction contractors PWD National Highways said that it took them 15 days to demolish the half of the bridge which is 26 meters. According to the official or the project manager, 40% more or less almost done and they are working day and night and sometimes overnight in constructing the bridge, he also added at least three to four times in a week they work overnight. A private residence was also seen just next to the bridge where the construction work is has been going on and they said that they are living their with her own risk in their own land and home. According to the project manager the 26meters that’s been demolished, they are making walls, footpath and sand rolling and filling is going on and the timeframe is given till 1st of January, 2025.
They said that the another major problem is that of the movement of the public near the construction site, which can be very dangerous for the people to be moving around near the construction site and which poses a huge risk. The movement and the parking of the auto-rickshaw was also seen near the construction area which can be very dangerous for all. And also it was reported that even though they have blocked the way the public are destroying it and still passing through it which is very dangerous. And even the traffic police was seen telling the auto-rickshaw to not park in the illegal parking, which is near the construction site. It was also notified that by next month they are going to start a heavy construction of the bridge and so, the contractor appealed the public to stop plying from the construction site as it can be life threatening.
