DIMAPUR: Chairman, Chen village K Yamao Konyak appeals to the govt. to provide basic amenities in the near future.
In some good news for the Konyak community, Chen village was officially inaugurated at Dhansiripar division on 5th November 2024, where this is the only konyak village that is recognized outside Mon district in the state. Hekani Jakhalu, the Advisor for Industries and Commerce was seen as the chief guest today, where she implored all the citizens here to live a civic sense of life over here by keeping it neat and clean and by planting more tress and proper drainages the whole village.
The village is said to be build on approximately 140 acres of land and it was officially recognized on February 15, 2024 by the state government and was officially inaugurated today on 5th November 2024. Also many ENLU members were present today including, Minister for Forest CL John who is popularly known as the head Gb of Chen village. The event started off with word of blessing and ribbon cutting by the chief guest. Chairman, Chen village K Yamao Konyak in his speech thanks the almighty God for giving the wisdom to establish the Chen village and also for blessing them to come thus far. He also acknowledge CL Joh for his contribution as well as the Neiphiu Rio lead government for recognising the Chen village and also appeals to the govt to provide basic amenities in the near future. He also extend his gratitude to the neighbouring boundaries for issuing no objection certificate, which was very much required for recognition of a village. Also added that it took them nine years for the village recognition and thank everyone for being apart of the program.
Hekani Jakhalu, Advisor Industries and Commerce opened her speech by thanking God and all the family, friends, well wishers and neighbours for coming together and celebrating the Inauguration of Chen village and congratulated them. She also congratulated all the chairman, head GBs and village councils for the new village and also stretched forward her tender apology for coming late and for having to leave the event from half way because of an unavoidable situation also added that the Chief Minister have conveyed his greetings and congratulations to the Chen village. She ended her speech by saying that, its just by word that the Konyak’s are called backward but they are the most hardworking, smart and brilliant of all and added that by this year, after having a discussion with the leaders they will make sure to contribute to their village as well.
CL John, Minister Forest & Climate Change, was also seen giving a short speech, where he started off by addressing and showing his respect to all the different departments for giving a support in recognising the Chen village.. Polan John, DC Chumoukedima also gave a short speech, he thanked CL John and the people of Chen village for inviting him. He expressed his warm gratitude on behalf of him and his officials for the warm welcome and the gifts they have given them and says that it is indeed his great privilege to be present in the first ever Konyak village outside of Mon district and added that even though he have never been to Mon district but said that after being among their midst in all the cultural program he said that he felt like he is in Mon itself. In the inauguration program, many other cultural activities was also performed and the people of Chen village celebrated their inauguration with great happiness and a grand success.
