DIMAPUR: Nagaki city at Chaththe Valley, Chumoukedima is a competition based scheme which is to be funded by the Government of India; clarifies, Government of Nagaland.
The department of Urban Development, Government of Nagaland on 22nd October 2024, through their press release clarifies on the misleading information regarding the Nagaki City at Chathe Valley under Chumoukedima district which has been circulating in the social media. The department of Urban Development stated that the ‘Incubation City’ is a competition based scheme under the 15th Finance Commission grant from the Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs, Government of India.
where, the Government of India will select two cities from the Northeastern states of India and so even the Government of Nagaland also decided to participate in the competition based scheme and proposed the Nagaki city at Chathe Valley under Chumoukedima. The Government of Nagaland also said that, it was also incorporated into the 2024-25 Budget Speech by the Finance minister as well as it was also mentioned in both the Republic Day and Independence Day speeches of 2024.
The state Government also clarified that the project is to be funded by the Government of India, state government, willing private investors and with a preference for local investors and that there is no need to take out loan from any leading institutions; the departed also stated that according to the master plan, approximately 40-50% of the 330-hectare of incubation area will be for the public amenities and services such as schools, hospitals, roads, etc while the remaining land will be retained by the rightful landlords.
The Department in their press release further clarified that the selection of the site was made considering all the possibilities such as its strategic location, existing connectivity, topography and potential for future expansion.
