CYF BARS MEMBERS FROM OFFICIAL PARTICIPATION IN OCT 28 NUM GATHERING AT LOK BHAVAN

October 26: The Chakhesang Youth Front (CYF) has advised its members and constituent units to refrain from participating in the proposed public gathering organised by the Naga Youth Movement (NYM) at Lok Bhavan, Kohima, on October 28.

In an advisory, the CYF stated that no member or constituent unit should participate in or represent the organisation in an official capacity at the gathering. It urged members to exercise discretion and maintain organisational discipline, stating that participation under the banner or representation of the CYF or its constituent units would not be permitted.

The front said the advisory was issued to uphold organisational discipline and ensure that its units act in accordance with the decisions and mandate of the Chakhesang public.

The NYM has called for the October 28 gathering to demand time-bound implementation of the 2015 Framework Agreement and the 2017 Agreed Position signed between the Government of India and Naga political negotiating groups. The movement had earlier submitted a memorandum to the Governor of Nagaland seeking clarity on the status of the agreements and a roadmap towards a final political settlement.

According to the NYM, its representations have remained unanswered despite an ultimatum that expired on October 8 and a subsequent representation submitted on October 13. The movement said the gathering aims to seek answers from the Governor over the prolonged delay in the Naga political process, maintaining that its demand is for the implementation of the existing agreements and is not directed against any particular organisation or faction.
