Kohima, October 15: Ward 19 of the Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) launched its first-ever digital community application, Ward Connect (W19), at Central Plaza, Multi-Level Car Parking, Kohima, on Thursday. The application was launched by Kohima Deputy Commissioner B. Henok Buchem, NCS, in an initiative spearheaded by Ward 19 Councillor Medoviu Martin Suohu.
The application features a grievance portal, council information, updates on developmental works, emergency contacts and notifications on garbage collection schedules. It aims to improve communication between residents and ward representatives, promote transparency and make public services more accessible.
Addressing the gathering, Buchem stressed the importance of technology in responsive governance and urged residents to actively participate in maintaining cleanliness, practising waste segregation and ensuring responsible garbage disposal. He also emphasised that the application must remain user-friendly and that alternative access to services should be available for those unable to use digital platforms.
Speaking to the media, Councillor Medoviu Martin Suohu encouraged residents to use the application to submit grievances and provide feedback. Future upgrades are planned to include a local business directory, GPS tracking of garbage collection vehicles and online sanitation fee payment.
