Dimapur, October 8: The Naga Youth Movement (NYM) today held a press conference reiterating its demand for accountability, transparency and implementation of the Framework Agreement signed between the NSCN (IM) and the Government of India, along with the Agreed Position with the NNPGs.The NYM stated that it has submitted representations to the Government of India through the Governor of Nagaland, and had given the authorities a deadline which expires today.
The group said that in the absence of a response, it is prepared to take its next course of action either tomorrow or the day after tomorrow.Clarifying its position, the NYM said it is not against the NSCN (IM), NNPGs or any particular organisation, but is demanding that the two signed agreements be taken forward. It also called for the issue to be brought back to the round table and sought an appointment with PM Modi, stating that he should provide clarity on the government’s position.
The movement appealed to the Naga people, particularly the youth, to come together not as members of different organisations or tribes, but as Nagas, stressing that the future of the people is at stake. It maintained that despite attempts to allegedly sabotage its movement, its stand remains firm in pursuing a solution for the Naga people.
