Dimapur, October 2 (NNN): Veteran Naga leader and former Speaker and Minister of Nagaland, E.T. Ezung, passed away in Dimapur on Thursday.
He was associated with public service for several decades and held key positions in the Nagaland Government.A native of Yonchucho Village in Wokha district and son of late P.E. Ezung, he was elected to the Nagaland Legislative Assembly from the 40 Bhandari Assembly Constituency. He served as Speaker of the Assembly from February 26, 1985, to October 29, 1986, before subsequently serving as a Cabinet Minister.
During his political career, Ezung held several portfolios in the State Government, including Power and Speaker/Housing & Home Guards.Deputy Chief Minister Y. Patton expressed grief over his demise, recalling his long service to the people of Nagaland and remembering him for his humility, simplicity and commitment to public service.
Advisor Tovihoto Ayemi also condoled his passing and paid tribute to his contributions to public service. Both conveyed condolences to his family and loved ones.
