Chümoukedima, September 17: The Naga People’s Front (NPF) organised a programme at a resort in Chümoukedima today, attended by Chief Minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio, MLAs from various political parties and other dignitaries. The programme was chaired by MLA and Advisor to the Chief Minister, Achumbemo Kikon.
At the outset, Kikon sought to clarify remarks made by members of the NSCN (IM) following a meeting at Rhododendron Hall, Chümoukedima, on Wednesday, particularly comments concerning former Chief Minister and veteran politician Dr. S.C. Jamir and his recent meeting with the RSS chief.
Kikon also referred to historical newspaper clippings from the tenure of former Chief Minister Vizol Angami, including a headline which read “Jamir is the Obstacle” in connection with the Naga political issue. He said the dynamics have changed over the years, contrasting the period of Dr. S.C. Jamir with the present tenure of Chief Minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio.
Kikon further stated that people had been kept aloof from the political process during Jamir’s tenure and said it was “very unbecoming” of a seasoned leader like Dr. S.C. Jamir to make remarks regarding the imposition of President’s Rule, referring to statements made by Jamir during his recent press conference in Dimapur.
