MP SUPONGMEREN REVIEWS PROGRESS OF SCHEMES IN VARIOUS DEPTS; SAYS MORE PUBLIC AWARENESS REQUIRED

Dimapur, AAugust 21: Lok Sabha Member of Parliament Supongmeren Jamir held a series of review meetings at the Dimapur Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Purana Bazar on August 19 to assess the progress and implementation of various centrally sponsored schemes in the district. The meetings were part of a mandatory quarterly review of central projects sanctioned by different ministries.

Jamir said the review also assessed the progress made by departments since the previous meeting held in March.Three departments—Labour, Agriculture and Veterinary—made presentations during the first round of meetings. According to Jamir, the departments have been making good progress, with district officials also working towards effective implementation of the schemes.

However, Jamir identified lack of public awareness as one of the major challenges. He said several government schemes are available for the benefit of citizens, but greater efforts are needed to ensure that people are informed about the schemes and are able to avail themselves of the benefits.Following the meetings with the three departments, Jamir also held a meeting with officials of the Power Department, particularly those dealing with transmission, to review centrally sponsored projects aimed at improving power transmission lines in the district.

On improving public awareness, Jamir stressed that both centrally sponsored schemes and state projects are ultimately intended for the benefit of citizens. He urged the public to cooperate with government departments and support development initiatives by participating in awareness programmes and availing themselves of the available schemes. The quarterly review meetings are part of the ongoing monitoring of centrally sponsored projects and their implementation at the district level.
