DIMAPUR, AUGUST 13: IndianOil has launched its 10-kg composite LPG cylinder, “Extra Light Now,” in Dimapur, offering customers a lightweight and modern alternative to conventional LPG cylinders.
The product was launched in the presence of Food and Civil Supplies Director GON and IndianOil Chief General Manager (LPG), Northeast, Amarjyoti Bordoloi.
Weighing approximately 6 kg when empty, the composite cylinder is rust-free and features a transparent body that allows customers to check the remaining LPG level. IndianOil said the product is designed particularly for urban households, working professionals, premium residential societies and customers looking for a convenient LPG option.
The first-time purchase, including the cylinder, will cost approximately ₹4,600, while subsequent refills will cost around ₹1,600. The company also said the product comes with doorstep delivery within three hours, subject to applicable service conditions.
Unlike regular domestic LPG connections, Extra Light Now is a free-trade LPG product and does not require an existing domestic LPG connection or the usual domestic subsidy framework. According to IndianOil, customers can purchase the cylinder without domestic LPG connection requirements, subject to applicable terms and conditions.
Speaking at the launch, Amarjyoti Bordoloi said the product has been introduced amid changes in LPG supply and demand following the recent West Asia crisis. He explained that India imports a significant share of its LPG requirements, with disruptions affecting the availability and cost of imports.
Bordoloi also highlighted the issue of domestic LPG cylinders being used for commercial purposes. He said the recent e-KYC and delivery authentication measures helped identify duplicate and unintended domestic LPG connections, reinforcing the need to separate domestic and commercial LPG demand.
He said the new 10-kg composite cylinder is intended to address the demand from customers who require LPG but may not have access to a new domestic connection, particularly during the current restrictions on new domestic connections.
IndianOil officials expressed confidence that Extra Light Now will provide customers in Nagaland with an additional LPG option while promoting more efficient and regulated use of domestic LPG supplies.
