DIMAPUR, AUGUST 14: Indian Oil has assured consumers in Nagaland of steady LPG supply amid recent concerns over scarcity and black marketing.
Speaking to Nagaland News Network (NNN) in Dimapur, Amarjyoti Bordoloi, Chief General Manager (LPG), Indian Oil AOD State Office, said the recent disruption in global LPG supplies had put significant pressure on the availability of the fuel. He said the situation had led to restrictions on domestic LPG bookings and, in turn, created a perception of scarcity among consumers.
Bordoloi said Indian Oil has introduced measures including Delivery Authentication Confirmation (DAC) and e-KYC to ensure that LPG cylinders reach genuine consumers and to curb the diversion of domestic cylinders for commercial use.
He also said action has been taken against distributors involved in black marketing, including the termination of one distributorship in Assam. No distributor in Nagaland has been closed down so far.
Assuring consumers in Nagaland, Bordoloi said Indian Oil is working to ensure that domestic LPG cylinders are delivered within four to five days of booking. He added that the digitised delivery system, including OTP authentication, is aimed at ensuring cylinders reach the customers who actually booked them.
On commercial LPG, Bordoloi said the priority given to domestic consumers during the peak of the crisis has now eased, and there is no current issue with the supply of commercial cylinders.
He further highlighted the introduction of Indane Xtralite, a lightweight composite LPG cylinder for domestic consumers. The new product is expected to be made available through distributors in the coming days and is intended to provide an additional option for consumers facing difficulties with regular cylinders.
On Nagaland’s supply network, Bordoloi said the state is supplied primarily through Indian Oil’s Bongaigaon and Guwahati refineries, with LPG transported to Nagaland by road. He said Nagaland has not faced a shortage
