‘ACT BEFORE ITS TOO LATE’ PHESAMA COUNCIL URGES URGENT REPAIRS ON NH-2

Kohima, July 29: The Phesama Village Council has urged the Government to take immediate and permanent measures to repair the sinking zone along the Kohima–Mao stretch of NH-2, warning that continued inaction could endanger lives during the monsoon.

Following the District Magistrate’s travel advisory, NNN found rocks and mud continuously falling at the affected site, with parts of the highway already damaged. Phesama Village Council Chairman Tuolie Seleyi appealed for urgent repairs, deployment of traffic police for better traffic management, and advised commuters to use alternate routes whenever possible. The District Administration has also urged motorists to avoid travelling during heavy rain and at night and to follow safety instructions at the site.
