Dimapur, July 7: A government employee has alleged that Eden Medical Centre did not provide him with the full benefits available under the Chief Minister’s Health Insurance Scheme (CMHIS) for Employees and Pensioners, raising questions over the implementation of the scheme by empanelled hospitals.
Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, the employee said his wife was admitted to the hospital in April for childbirth, with the delivery expenses reportedly covered under CMHIS. However, after their new born was admitted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) due to complications, he claimed that only ₹1,63,975 of the total bill of ₹6,79,679 was covered, leaving the family to pay ₹5,15,704.
The employee further alleged that after shifting the baby to another CMHIS-empanelled hospital, he received the benefits as per the scheme, prompting him to question why there was a difference in coverage between empanelled hospitals.
When contacted by Nagaland News Network, Eden Medical Centre acknowledged the allegations and said it is aware of the matter. The hospital stated that it will issue an official clarification later today.
