DIMAPUR: No machineries, construction materials as well as workers seen on the construction site on the NH-29.
The NH-29 ‘Pagala Pahar’ which was washed recently and the government of Nagaland as well as the NHIDCL has been working on its restoration work for all transport to take place smoothly. Where, a certain timeframe was given to the NHIDCL for the completion of the restoration work. However, it has also come to the notice that the NHIDCL has asked for the extension of the timeframe in completion of the work many times.
We has also seen that the Chief Minister of Nagaland, Neiphiu Rio himself have inspected the site quiet a few times in the past one or two months and he had specifically directed the NHIDCL to complete the work by mid November at the most. But on 22nd November, it was seen that the restoration work has been stopped and no construction materials, machineries, or even the workers were no where to be seen on the site.
While, talking with the official of the PWD NH, they informed us that the NHIDCL informed them that they are waiting for the soil to be ‘compaction’. On 14th October, 2024 the NHIDCL has written a notification on the extension especially to the DC of Chumoukedima where they have asked till November 20 but we could see that it was not only incomplete but there was also no work done even after the past timeframe of extension.
